Local Cyclist Was Triumphant In Conquering His Competition At The Canadian National Cyclocross Competitions

Willem Boersma wins U17 Men category at BC Grand Prix CX in Surrey, BC

Willem entered the Junior Category which is above his age category and came in 3rd. The following day he mastered the sport by leading the entire pack on the race course to secure his well earned Gold Medal for his age category.

If people want to stop by Screen Door to try on the clothing that would be fine, but that orders must be forwarded to Jean-Marc.  

Screen Door will not accept order/purchases at the store.  Please note that each piece of clothing/bag will have a JYD logo on it (See photo above: the black/grey design but with the "red" collar.)   

Orders will be placed every 2 weeks unless number of orders dictates otherwise.

Get that Christmas Shopping out of the way early this year and be well dressed for the 2013 cycling season!!!!

 Thank-you to all who participated in our first cyclocross event. We hope you enjoyed the course & the days events. Our apologies to those in the B Race who should have raced for 40 minutes but only raced for 30 (small glitch that no one seemed to be complaining about )

The Republic of Manitobah Cyclocross September 22, 2012
Host Club: Portage Junk Yard Dogs with the cooperation of Portage Regional Recreation Authority Inc (PRRA).
Date: September 22, 2012
Location: Republic of Manitobah Park
Eligibility:
The race is open to all those with a valid UCI/CCA/MCA license. MCA citizen license holders are eligible to race in the Citizen category only.
Categories and Start Times:
  • Kids U11 kids and younger, U13 kids with less racing experience: 1:00 (20 min)
  • C Race (beginner, U13 and U15 racers with less racing experience and MCA citizen, male and female): 1:30 PM (30 min)
  • B Race (U15; U17; sport level male; sport, expert, and elite female): 2:15 PM (40 min)
  • A Race (expert and elite male) 3:30 PM (60 min)

Pre: Registration:
The pre-registration deadline is Thursday September 20, 2012 at midnight.






Race Day Registration:
Race day registration for the events opens at 11:00 am and ends 30 minutes before your event starts. Please print out and bring the entry form and waiver with you to the race. 
Check In:
All pre-registered riders must "Check-in" at the registration table.
Check in opens at 11:00 am and closes 30 minutes before your event start
.
Cost:
$20 for pre-registration for those holding a UCI/CCA/MCA license
$40 the day of the race for those holding a UCI/CCA/MCA license
$10  for those holding a MCA citizen license
No entry fee for those U11 and younger or U13 with less experience racing in the kids race

Race Course:
The course will be open for pre-riding at about 11:30 am on race day. Length will be 2.5 km. The course will consist of hard packed gravel paths, grass fields and an ascent of “Lookout Hill”.
Assembly and Seeding:
  •         Riders in the C, B, and A races will assemble 10 minutes before the scheduled race start and will be called to the start line in seeded order.
  •      Seeding is based on placement in prior races of the 2012 season.
  •      Riders who have not raced yet will start at the back of their group.
  •      Riders must start in their seeded position or be relegated.
General Race Rules:
  • Riders are required to wear a hard-shell ANSI or SNELL approved helmet while racing, warming up, and cooling down.
  • Hand-ups (food, tools, or supplies) are not allowed anywhere on the course.
  • A rider may NOT take on any additional water or food at any time during the race.
  • Mechanical work, bike exchange, and wheel exchange may take place, but only within the designated pit lane.
  • Riders may never cut across the course and may never backtrack along the course to get to the pit lane.
  • Road, mountain, and cyclocross bikes are allowed in the C and B category, road and cyclocross bikes only are allowed in the A race. Tires in the A group are restricted to a maximum width of 1.5” for 26”wheels and 35mm for all others.
  • MTB handlebars must not have bar-ends.
  • All bikes must have functional front and rear brakes.

Parking is available at the site.
Courtesy and Safety:
The course is open and the public can access the course at any point. Signs will indicate that bike race is in progress, but be aware that marshals do not have authority to prevent people from entering the course. Keep your head up at all times. Be courteous to others.

Despite chilly morning temperatures, there was a good showing for the last Triathlon even of the season. Weather conditions resulted in the swim portion being cancelled, changing things up to a duathlon.
